Volunteers and Community Members Clean Up “Sunday Beach” in Kertasari

On November 19th, 2025, a community clean-up event took place at “Sunday Beach,” a popular coastal spot in Kertasari that has long been affected by the accumulation of litter left behind by weekend visitors.

The activity began at 16:00 and gathered volunteers from Laskar Cinta Alam, residents of Kertasari, several guests, and children who frequently participate in community events. Before the clean-up started, the children played at the Living on Air space, enjoying volleyball, table tennis, and gym-area games. They mentioned feeling welcome and appreciated the positive atmosphere that helps them connect with others.

During the clean-up, participants collected only inorganic waste, separating it into recyclable and non-recyclable materials. Among the recyclable items, they found a large number of plastic drink bottles, cosmetic containers, and bottle caps, along with a few glass bottles. Non-recyclable waste included cigarette butts, worn-out sandals, clothing, baby wipes, and abandoned fishing nets.

Organizers pointed out that Sunday Beach is one of the areas most affected by litter, mainly due to the heavy influx of local visitors on Sundays—many of whom leave their trash on the shore instead of taking it back home. The clean-up aimed not only to remove waste but also to raise awareness about the importance of keeping the environment clean and preventing further pollution.
